Land som anerkjenner Haag-konvensjonen har alle vedkjent seg gyldigheten av apostillestempelet.<br \/>\nDet overnevnte traktatet er en permanent organisasjon som ble etablert 5. oktober i 1961 og har som m\u00e5l \u00e5 forenkle internasjonale, administrative prosedyrer mellom medlemslandene. Flere enn 180 land og uavhenige jurisdiksjoner er en del av dette Traktatet. I disse medlemslandene forenkles sirkulasjon av offentlige dokument gjennom p\u00e5f\u00f8ring av apostillestempel. Anh\u00f8rige land benytter samme eller lignende modell.<br \/>\nDefinisjonen av apostillestempel er \u201c\u00e5 anerkjenne et dokument ustedt i et medlemsland til bruk i et annet\u201d. Apostillestempel p\u00e5 et \u201cutenlandsk\u201d offentlig dokument bekrefter autentisiteten av signatur, kapasiteten den personen har til \u00e5 signere dokumentet, og med hvilken tittel han eller hun har signert det samme, og i visse tilfeller ogs\u00e5 identiteten til stempel p\u00e5f\u00f8rt dokumentet. Apostillestempel kommer alltid p\u00e5 landets offisielle spr\u00e5k. Men stempelets ti punkter er universelle for alle apostillestempel slik at ethvert land kan identifisere informasjonen uavhengig av spr\u00e5k.<br \/>\nDet er ogs\u00e5 viktig \u00e5 nevne Regulation on Public Documents 2016\/1191 som tr\u00e5dte i kraft i EU 16. februar 2019, hvis m\u00e5l er \u00e5 unng\u00e5 byr\u00e5krati og ekstra kostnader for innbyggerne ved presentasjon av offentlig dokument i andre EU-land og hvor krav om apostillestempel bortfaller. Eksempler p\u00e5 slike dokument inkluderer f\u00f8dsels-, vigsels- og d\u00f8dsattester, foreldrerett, adopsjon, opphold, statsborgerskap, osv. Reguleringen omfatter ogs\u00e5 vandelsattester n\u00e5r det oppst\u00e5r behov for \u00e5 bekrefte at en person ikke har kriminelt rulleblad. Dokument utstedt f\u00f8r denne reguleringen tr\u00e5dte i kraft skal ogs\u00e5 aksepteres under disse nye vilk\u00e5rene. Da m\u00e5 det dokumentet som skal brukes i en spansk rettslig prosess anerkjennes gjennom \u201dlegalisering\u201d i utstederlandet.
